As the number of people in the Ascension community have been increasing as of late, I wanted to make sure to the best of my ability that no one goes un-noticed (both old community members and new ones!) as we're trying to make a great community for Ascension! This thread will allow a good starting point for people who are new members of the community to get their posting juices flowing, and to get an idea of some of the people who are a part of this community thus far. For those of you who are unsure as of what to say, here are a few ideas:

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter? Favorite mod for that (if applicable)? Any particular reason why?
Favorite single player game?
Where abouts are you from?
Favorite drink?
Occupation?
And so forth.

If you're wondering on what exactly some of the development staff's answers to these are, you can see them here (http://www.ascension-game.com/index.php/mod/bios)

Also, don't be afraid to respond with your opinion in threads! Even though we may not comment on all the threads, we definitely read them and want your opinions :)

Welcome to the Ascension community, happy posting, and check your private message inbox :)

Hi, I just joined a couple weeks ago. I was happy to hear about this project, mainly because the fans of tribes are making it. I wish that I could help, but I don't seem to have any of the skills that I've seen listed. I would LOVE to beta test, however.

MP FPS: Tribes 2, version 2 mod. I know lots of people hate that mod, but the nimble shrike movement really gets me. I love dancing about in a cloud of missiles that miss me as I cause them to do my bidding. Classic and Aerial Dogfight are great as well, and I wish that I had discovered Team Rabbit 2 early enough to be competetive in it.

Single player: Halo 2, which takes 3rd place in the MP FPS slot, too.

I'm 23, and a physics grad student at the University of Chicago. I just started working on the ATLAS (http://pdg.lbl.gov/atlas/movie/) high energy physics experiment, based at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. I'm living in Chicago for now, but will be spending one or two of the next three or four years in Geneva.

hi there i've been playing tribes 1 since the summer of 2003, i started on meltdown hell and then moved to biowasteland.

i'm very dedicated to tribes because it the only fps i've ever really liked. i usually stick to strategy games, RPGs and that kind of stuff, but there was just something special about tribes.

my favorite single player shooter was Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, but my favorite game of all time would have to be Skies of Arcadia Legends

i'm almost 16, going to be a junior in the fall. i love star wars, i'm into speed metal, and i'd like to be an engineer or mathmetician when i grow up.

Favorite multiplayer game/mod: Tribes 2, Lakrabbit probably, but I play base CTF on the demo just as much :)
I also liked to play early versions of the construction mod where it was more difficult to build, and it involved quite a bit of problem solving and thinking.

Favorite singleplayer game: I don't play many, but Donkey Kong Country for SNES was bitching :D

From Durham, NC.
Student.

I spend my time on the computer, playing jazz and new age piano, composing, listening to music, enjoying nice weather, etc...

(Cool topic idea, I like reading through these.)

Well, let's see...

I'm 18, and I come from the glorious country of Hungary (feel free to bust out the maps for this one, it's right there next to Molvania ;)). Will be starting my second year in university, studying to become a "program designer mathematician". Which I hope will translate into game design sooner than later.

Favorite online game is Tribes (duh). I usually play base, with the occasional Paintball mod thrown in when I fel like playing CS. :)

The favorite single player game award goes undoubtedly to Deus Ex, though there are many strong candidates (including but not limited to System Shock 2, the Prince of Persia trilogy, Oni, Tron 2.0 and M.A.X.). You'll probably note that I like options and customizability.

My interests are computers and brainstorming. Given enough time and interest, I can sit down and reduce most everything to a bunch of basic rules and correlations. Arguably a useful skill for other than theology, but I enjoy it nonetheless. :)

Favorite quote:

Nice to learn a little more about the you all who have been helping build the community for Ascension! Keep the posts coming!

For the record, Donkey Kong Country for the SNES did rock, as did Deus Ex. Although I was dissapointed with the second one.

MP game favorites:
Tribes 2 - Meldown2 mod VERY VERY early verisons (later ones were crap) and Masters mod.

SP game favorites:
Alpha Centauri - old but the newer civ games have just been crap to me so stick with it.
Freespace 2 - just so different from Alpha Centauri that I have to put it too.

Im a 19 year old cripple (but you wouldn't know it seeing me) living in mormon park USA (had a friend once that said they should fence Utah in and put rides through like Jurassic Park).

Interests pretty much ditto Amadeus (learnt coding from scratch simply by sittin down and reading it). Done almost 2 years of college in Computer Science but had to quit because getting too sick/tired and found out teh strain was likely eating my internal organs xD.

Me ina box. I guess. Maybe. Pretty much.

Hi,

My favorite multiplayer FPS is Tribes, I lead the Die Schwarzdreieck (.*.) clan in the Biowasteland mod, some of my fantastic members include Zaxx and Justice here. As a clan we are sort of planning on shifting to Ascension when it's out due to the near-death state of Tribes.

Favorite single player game is also Final Fantasy VII, followed closely by Half-Life 2

I'm from western Montana...

Favorite drink... Ginger ale, and none of that canada dry or schwepps pisswater, the good stuff that comes in glass and has some bite.

No real job, just do random stuff for my dad when i need money. Going to college in about a month.

Glad to be here :)

Now I am full time babysitter of my son, and part time student. I am getting 2 degrees. First my LPN, and then on to some degree that will play a part in making games. Although, I am not sure what degree that should be as I am far more intrested in mapping than coding.

Well I guess I'll introduce meself. As you can see, I am vertex! That is how most people on my Favorite FPS, Tribes 2, know me. I love playing all versions of T2, they are all very exciting when you get people in the server. I am in Houston (you know the location of Houston Vehicles for all you Tribes 2 veterans that were there for the HV days)! I also play Guild Wars with my best bud, 5-Doubt (if you know him).

I am just here to look around and post if I feel like i have some good input! (not here to spam like i do on the eWo forums :P)

Im in my late teens and I am a Tribes 2 Addict.

I've been a Tribes addict since the T1 demo. The only other games i have spent any real time playing is Quake and Freespace. Now i play T2 (classic or version 2) exclusively, until Ascension is released anyway :)

I was actually enjoying the T:V SP until i lost my cd key :|

I live on the central coast of California. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else even though the cost of living is way to high here.

My favorite drink is a Tom Collins with some real good gin.

I am an AT&T Service Tech. When i started ten years ago it was Pacific Bell. So no, my name doesn't mean Peanut Butter Tech

I'm 39, going on 23. I love Brittish comedy, Alternative Rock and throwing blue discs at people :D

Hi guy's Im Diecast 5 I played Tribes 2 for 4 3/4 years and some times I pop up on Tribes 2 server whan I get bord of my other game I too have server up and running but not for tribes 2 I have a team speak and a website as well , I am part of The EWo on there website and Whan new game come out I test them and see how well thay do for others and get servers up for any game, that do get the game I did have Quake 4 server It ran good but the player were pissed that the Updats were too slow to get, the game had lot's of bug in it , you gess it , it was a flop I hope that ET-QW does not come out like that there would be lots of players pissed off , But if you guy's make a game that player would not comeplan about without BUG than you know it would be a smash hit If I where you guys like Splash Damage guy's there fixing the hole game so It would be without a bug whan it come out there taking there time with the game I know that all games are not perfict but its a thought that counts .

Other Info?
In Tribes 1 i'm in the Unity clan headed by Biohazard (creator of Biowasteland mod[i think ill build a shrine to him to make him more active]) But with Ascension i don't think Unity will make the switch over so i'll probably be joining .*. clan here. I also hate cheaters (primarily wallhackers) which i've actually hunted down and taken demo vids to expose those who play biomod and decide to cheat.

Favorite multiplayer fps?
Tribes
(I love them all.)
I started in S:T in Jan-Feb of 99 recruited in to a "Training Guild" Called MERC.
When MERC fell :( I went lone wolf for quite a wile.
Durring that time I played BioWaistLand, renegades, ultra renigades, Spoonbot, and a few otheres I don't realy recall right now.
At one point I even tride to create my own MOD, but found little support for my Ideahs that mostly centered around a new game type that included AI that played as both team mates and as by-standers.

When T2 Classic came out I switched over to it, and Joined =IV= (http://www.indianavehicles.com).
=IV= was a strong clan lead by a very strong nucliuse of intelegent, and commeted gamers.
Most of =IV='s leaders have moved on to R/L things, or leadership in othere clans, but that was probly the funest time I had in Tribes 2.

I curently play T:V, and am the coleader of the .:VA:. (http://www.venomassassins.com) Clan.
We compeat in the BEML (http://beml.org/), and host a pretty good pub with the vinalla and antics v3 MOD's by rapher running on it.

Favorite mod for that?/Any particular reason why?
Actualy I enjoyed spoonbot alot there was always some one to fight aginst, and you didn't have to put up with smack tards as much.
But I think regular renagades would have been my fave.
There were some nice new features, but nothing over the top.

Favorite single player game?
Dungeon Siege.
Because of the grfx engien, and because of the way you still have a group of charecters to work togethere, and enteract with.
Also the story line seems fairely rich to me.

Where abouts are you from?
South Central IN

Favorite drink?
Mountain Dew Code Red, or live wire if I can fined it.

Age
36

And so forth...
I have done livel editing (http://home.insightbb.com/~gideon611/Maps.htm), and skins (http://home.insightbb.com/~gideon611/sample1.jpg) for T2.

I am very interested in Ascension, and would like very much to help with textures/livel design, but I'm afraid I am a bit behined the times (and pretty rusty) since I have done little of eithere since T:V came out.

you made a mod with bots for team mates? that sounds like mizer mod botland, that mod was pretty cool.

actually i think that AI players are highly underrated, and that ascension should do more to incorporate them.

Gideon
08-07-2006, 08:07 PM
lol
To say I made the mod would be quite a stritch, I dremt of such a mod.
And I started doing a small amout of research on the matter useing Spoontbot as a base for it.
The only thing I realy succeded at doing was creating what some called snitch bots.
My by stander bots were target lasser toteing snitchs that would target you or the enemy and made you total cannon fodder for the enemy mortar bots (HO bots).
But I'm jacking the thread.
If you want to talk more about this I'd love to in #renwerx I have been ideling in there for a few days now, and well it seems kind of quite in there might be nice to liven it up some. :)

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter?
Currently: Tribes 2 and Counter-strike Source
Used to be: Tribes 1 and Counter-strike 1.6
See a pattern? :p

Favorite mod for that?
For tribes 1, I always used to play the Meltdown series of mods. Mostly, Meltdown Hell and Meltdown Classic. MDH for the high paced sniping and MDC for the high paced explosive weaponry and intense combat.

For tribes 2, I particularly enjoy the Classic mod over any other base-like mod because it is fast paced. What can I say, I like intense games =D.

Wow, nice thread. I can honestly say I read every post and this is good stuff.

Fav FPS:
T2 by far.

Fav Mod:
Classic, though there were some varients that I really enjoyed too.

Fav SP:
Tough, maybe HL.

Location:
West Virginia, this place is paradise if you want to be a mountain man. I'm getting into wild foods (weird but cool). I love to mountain bike, hike, boulder or just explore these wonderful hills. I do some kayaking too.

Was a Lone Wolf in Team Fortress Classic and T2 until a friend talked me into starting Androctasiae. We had a good time playing T2, but we've mostly all gone our seperate ways, though we still keep in touch.

I've never played biowasteland, so I'm going to have to look it up. I'm in MKTG here, but I've been away enjoying the summer, so I'm trying to catch up while waiting on the internet man to come hook up my apartment.

PS: Good to see ya vertex, and yeah, I remember 5-doubt and wet, and ava, and eek, and..... The good 'ole days when we used to all hang out.

Hey there, I just heard about this project and it is very exciting.

I have been a dedicated Tribes player for a number of years and made regular cash contributions to HV and MV during their heydays...and for the past few months have been funding the server that houses EWO and OGN. Others have more time to give than I ever did, bless them!

Please feel free to email me if I can help RenWerx out in any way. I see a bunch of friends on the posts here and many new names too...look forward to virtually hanging with you and getting the next generation game back to rocking the Tribes addicts out there, including me!

I see Story and Diecast on here -- YO FELLAS! :)

I guess since this is our forum, I should post in here too :p only cause teratos did and now I feel like I need to one up him..

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter?
This is tough, because there are many I enjoy.. I cut my teeth on Quakeworld and Quake 2 and Tribes 1... I spent more time playing Tribes 2 than any game combined though..

Favorite mod for that (if applicable)? Any particular reason why?
I only ever played Base in T2, and was against any major changes including Classic.. Even though that wasn't a good opinion back then. :) I did compete alot and was once part of an 8 hour Recal match which spurred TWL to remove it from the Mapcycle... lol

Favorite single player game?
There are many of these too.. Geez :) I enjoyed F.E.A.R., HL(2) and oddly.. Duke Nukem 3d. I like RPG games for SP moreso though..

Where abouts are you from?
Born in NC, Living in TX

Favorite drink?
Topshelf Margarita on the Rocks, no salt, one lime.. Prefer Tarantula Tequila, but if I can't have that, then Patron Silver or Plat works.

Occupation?
Computer Technician for my brothers small business, and well a RWX Developer. (Currently looking for a real game dev job though!)

Just curious why is the game called Ascension. Does it have anything to do with the T1 clan Ascension @^?

We actually came up with the name after months of voting and debating and wife-swapping....

Well, not the wife-swapping, but all the other stuff. Even though not everyone adopted the name, many of us felt that it really incorporated what we were trying to do here at RenWerx, which is take gaming to another level. Ascension is striving to be the next level of gaming that T1 and T2 made awesome.

At least, that is what I got from all the wife-swapping.

lol its werid cause sort of lost my accent but my moms who i moved to colorado with still has a serious wv accent and since i talk to her daily i still got it. wv is were all my family is at except my mom and one uncle. Most people don't ever leave there i guess. I can't even get my family to come see me. Everytime i talk to them they just keep asking when are you going to come back? It not that easy when you 1,800 miles away and have 3 kids i guess. Anyway i miss wv, if i could make as much as i do here i would be there tomorrow. :(

hello all. first off my name is |WAR| Antimatter....but in my haste to register i left off the last letter of my name. hell, at least i make a good first impression.

anywho...

My favorite multiplayer game is Tribes 1, the original. I play Annihilation, Pick up (spawn), TROC, and ocassionally some base.

As for single player...most likely GTA vice city or san andreas, though i have alot of close contenders.
I am from upstate New York, about a half hour north of Albany.
I'm a student, i havn't a job, and i like to drink coca-cola....:D

I am, in Tribes one, one of four leaders of the clan |WAR|, which i can happily say is the most skilled of the clans in Annihilation, and we've been undefeated for quite some time.:p

The whole "Ascension" project looks very, very interesting from any Tribes player's point of view, so i felt i had to at least stop by and check it out. I don't have any scripting, modding, ect. abilities so i cannot lend help...but i think it is good for people to at least support something that could turn out to be one of the greatest continuations of, in my opinion, the greatest trilogy of multiplayer games ever.

Later all.

I live in Malta, which is in saratoga county, just barely outside of being in clifton park. My neighbor has played Tribes for 6-7 years and had originally gotten me into the game long ago. (<!> Forsaken.)

All this time, and I've never even posted here...

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter? Favorite mod for that (if applicable)? Any particular reason why?
Tribes 2 Siege. It's a different type of gameplay than most Tribes players are used to, and I think it's best played in base. With team sizes around 12 players on the right maps, it can become an epic battle between not only players, but whole TEAMS.

Classic Siege, however, just takes most of the skill out of it. Grenade Launchers that are completely overpowered, hit detection that tells you when you're hitting cloakers, and cameras you can throw around to nullify all anti-turret items.

Siege is a story of a gametype that was originally a bunch of guys fumbling around a huge base, into a story of tremendously skilled leaders and players (who can forget Kamikaze Samurai?), which finally became incredibly deskilled and ultimately boring enough to barely draw any players. I honestly believe that Dynamix designed Tribes 2 around the gametype, and there is a lot of history behind it.

I hope that Renwerx will not merely carry on the tradition of Siege, but also combine what it once was - skilled - with what it has always dreamed of having - auto-downloadable maps with completely new bases.

Favorite single player game?
F-Zero GX. Racing at its finest. Accept no substitutes.

Where abouts are you from?
Western Michigan.

Favorite drink?
Water. It's pure. Bonus points if it's cold. I often drank 2 liters of water before/during every Tribes 2 match I ever took part in, and ran a forum poll to determine who could predict the first time I had to get up to use the bathroom.

I'm not saying don't get hyped at all. You can be mildly excited if it makes you feel better. But too much hype impairs your judgement. That's one of the more important things I learned from T:V's long development and short life.

Eh, i think i'll still go with hyping it out of proportion.;)

a game is about gameplay. when a community has this amount of voice in the developlment of a game, i believe the gameplay will turn out better than anything previously done. so, in my opinion it is looking to be the latest, and greatest.

Axelay
09-21-2006, 03:00 PM
Hi, I'm Axelay. You may know me better as Silent Scope.mk2 from my days in T1 Renegades and T2 Renegades. (If you don't, then I guess I didn't bomb you.) You may remember me from such hits as "Oh crap, here comes that bomber again," "Someone please shoot that bomber down," and "Silent Scope needs to get out of that bomber and fight like a man." Yeah, something like that. In case you haven't already figured it out, I love flying air-to-ground strikes in Tribes more than in any other game I've ever played. A guy named SVoyager taught me how to really use the Thundersword to its maximum lethality, and I'm proud to say that we once had 106 kills in one 30-minute round. I once wrote a nice long FAQ to teach people how to effectively use the bomber, but I'm afraid I'm not sure what happened to it.

I look very forward to the eventual release of Ascension, as Battlefield 2 really sucks out loud when compared to Tribes. Recently, though, I have discovered the Point of Existence mod for it, and it's exceptionally good. Still, though, it ain't Tribes.

Believe it or not, one of my friends is a high-ranking seller for Vivendi on the east coast of the USA. I have asked him many a time if there's any way he could use his influence to try to convince the higher-ups at Vivendi to release their stranglehold on the Tribes license. He doesn't seem to think it'll happen, though, sadly.

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter?
Tribes 2, hands down.

Favorite mod for that (if applicable)?
Renegades.

Any particular reason why?
Never bothered to try any others since Renegades had the best balance of flying vehicles and ground combat options.

Favorite single player game?
Hmmm... maybe Final Fantasy Tactics.

Where abouts are you from?
Raleigh, NC

Favorite drink?
Sweet tea.

Occupation?
Technology teacher for middle school. I teach grades 5-8.

Hello! I'm Scott, I play T2 under the handle 'nappingcracker', favorite mod is Renegades, but I really used to love the /old/ Meltdown 2, before it became too crazy. Renegades really rewarded team play, and also allowed a few good team players to hold it down even if the rest of the team were not playing together. Tribes 2 is by far my favorite FPS, my favorite single player game? I don't know, probably something old school like Revenge of Shinobi, or Day of the Tentacle. All though lately I have been cracking out on my Dreamcast, Mars Matrix mostly, go 2d shooters!

I love Manhattans, but only when it is OK to be ridiculous, otherwise water suffices. My favorite compound.

I am a web developer, jack of all trades type, mostly front end. I freelance as a designer when I can, but lately have been working on solo design projects to keep my mind sharp. I play bass guitar, and recently started working on some experimental drum and bass tracks with my old friend and drummer from my last band, trying to learn to play keyboard and bass at the same time to increase the level of crazyness. It makes my brain hurt.

I live and work in Burlington, VT.

I like pie.

10-11-2006, 05:00 PM
Hey, my name's Dan Anderson (go figure). My first PC FPS was Tribes 2 about 2 years ago, and since I've loved all three Tribes games (although Vengeance was always that disfigured cousin). I think each Tribes game has its strong suit, but the only reason I play other games more is because of the relatively small community. I'd like to help out a little with Ascension, especially to make sure that CTF isn't the only gametype played online. I guess I can model a little, draw, and give my friendly yet aggresive advice. Plus, I like monkeys.

Drummer 90

This is Drummer 90 from Tribes 2. Never played T1 and I hate venegance with a passion (although I must say certain elements of it were great). I'm a part of the -=}EWo{=- community and a mapper and skinner in my spare time. I learned of Acension through EWo an am attempting to become a skinner for this game. I love tribes 2 and have great hopes that Asencion will keep the pieces of T2 that I love while providing me something new to play =)

Hi, New around here. Like Himura I'm coming from Legends where I played under the name [DA]lnxusr. Legends was my first introduction to this style of game and I sometimes play t1, Though not often enough to be considered a player. My favorite single player game (though it does have multiplayer support) is Postal 2, Possibly the most sick, Twisted and immoral game in existence and that's why I love it. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, PA. My favorite drink would have to me Heaven Hill cheap ass Kentucky bourbon whiskey :D I've got very high expectations for Ascension and would like to help out in any way I can.

I'm a C/C++ programmer particularly for Linux/UNIX environments focusing a lot on network/game programming using SDL, OpenAL, and OpenGL APIs, Am capable of Torque scripting (from what I picked up while messing with Legends). I'm also very accustomed to Torque's map editor and made several Legends maps (some of which are due for inclusion into BT Mappack). Network security/penetration testing are also among my interests. Finally, I'm an all around Linux/UNIX technician particularly desktop/gaming system setup and server configuration/administration and am willing to help anyone setup, explore, and use Linux distributions.

Really looking forward to the release of Ascension and if I can help out at all, do contact me.

Onoes, how did I not post here yet?! Life has been crazy for a long time now, but I still check in as I have time. I came from T1 back around 99 when a buddy at work sent a copy home with me (I bought my own copy and the strat guide shortly after :D). Got T2, but the newer machine I used to run it died and I had to go back to my old one, so I missed out a lot on T2. Oh how I miss Prison Break and Bloodbath2 Base lol. Been playing WoW and EVE in my brief bouts of spare time and try to write when it's quiet enough in the house, even sneak in some T1 every now and then.

However, I dont know who 90% of these people are.

Hey Nemesis :)
The game, while maybe not initially, will have a variety of community features. The community along with teams/clans/tribes/whatever you want to call it is also important to them and thus will be naturally supported.

Hrm ... Tribes, Tribes, Tribes and more Tribes would be my favorite multiplayer fps. I prefer to play Classic over Base, but either are fun, for Tribes 2 that is. Since the release of Tribes 2 I haven't really played a lot of Tribes, but every once in a while I pop in a server.

I am originally from Washington State and I am a network security technician, but I am working on my degree as a DBA and I have a hardcore programmer.

I own and operate www.Tribes2Maps.com and www.TribalOutpost.com (which is going to be getting an overhaul soon). Which on that note, I have am going to be adding sections to the www.TribalOutpost.com for Ascension Maps, Scripts, and other Files after the overhaul as well. If anyone wants to talk to me about it you can get me at AIM: Sfphinx, ICQ: 33791809, or sfphinx <at> sfphinx <dot> com.

BTW, keep up the good work on the game.

Like many of you, I was an avid and devoted Tribes fan all through the "trilogy" and was disappointed when T:V was such a flop to play. I didn't think there was anyone still playing T1 or T2, but I'll fire up my old discs and reinstall if there is a couple of servers still up. I recognize many of the names on the forums and, needless to say, Renegades was my favorite mod. I played it to the neglect of the classic mode.

I heard about Ascension as a passing comment on a podcast, I think< and am excited to see any new Tribes inspired game from a team devoted to the original gamepley style. Don't kill yourself too much on the eye candy guys, It was the gameplay that we all loved so much -- but you know that already.

Been developing for various small indie games, some which have never seen light of day, but they were all 2D Pixel based games. Anyway, Ascension uses TGEA (Torque Gaming Engine Advanced), which isn't free, but at $100 or so, it's a bargain for a complete 3D engine. Check out www.garagegames.com for the details.

Like they said above, the engine is TGEA, but you sound like an artist, so you wouldn't need to get TGEA. You should look through our screenshots on www.Ascension-Game.com and the blogs here (see the ticker on top of the forums) and see if that is the kind of thing you could do for us. 03-21-2007, 01:53 AM
My name's Brocephus and I've been playing T2 off and on for about three years. I never really got much into the game until recently simply because I really suck, hehe. However, since I discovered the in-game map editor ( a feature I hope to see in Ascension) I've been putting in 8-10 hour days/night after I get off work. I've reworked a couple of existing maps and am currently at work on a map called Pantheon. My guess is it was originally intended to be a classic map, so I'm just adding a few things here and there to make it a little more "base mod" friendly.

I'm currently mobilized at Ft. Bliss, TX where the only thing slower than the speech patterns is the nightlife. I'm a Small Arms and Artillery Repairman in the Army and a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in the real world. I have an eye for detail and am probably the single-most anal guy you've ever had the pleasure of meeting when it comes to making anything; be it creating a map, restoring a car, or even making a damn sandwich. (The uniform thickness and even spread of the peanut butter can make or break a sandwich.)

I'm opinionated, outspoken, and it gives me great pleasure to critique someone else's efforts in a positive manner. I take pride in having this thing called tact. You'd be amazed at just how far a little tact will take you. I've never written a reply that wasn't at least 400 lines long and I'm somewhat anal about grammar. (Don't ask me why or how. Hell, I failed freshman english!)

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I look forward to seeing what this Dev team (and quite possibly the community) is capable of.

I really do appreciate that comment. I figure you guys have no more time or desire to read useless banter than I have to write it. I enjoy making the occasional concise joke, but for the most part, I try to remember that this really no more than a virtual workplace. As in any workplace setting, there's a time and a place for bullshit...all the time and anyplace ain't it. (Perhaps the board could use a sub-forum where almost anything goes and call it "The Water Cooler", hehe.)

Sorry it took so long to finally intro myself. I frequent several boards that use this format and just naturally found myself hitting the "New Posts" button, forgetting I was the FNG, hehe.

I was researching tribes 2 (I'm thinking about writing a book on tribes, so I've been digging through the old stuff) and some external links brought me here. If Ascension is really similar to tribes (preferably Tribes aerial assault >.>...which is where I'm from) then that'd be awesome.

Hi Mastodon,

Hopefully you'll stick around. I'm not sure that we have any T:AA players here (it is sort of the forgetten Tribes) but we'd love to have you stay and contribute your opinion on things.

Ascension will be a free game, fully stand-alone with several MODs that were popular Tribes MODs originally.

Also, good luck on your book, this would be a good site to ask questions on.

Mastodon
04-05-2007, 02:18 AM
Well, as I read they mentioned a release this year. If that's true I suspect it to be coming out in a few months? I've never really played FPS on PC XD. Well, I tried once on some other Tribes-related game, but it'd definitely take some getting use to.

And no, I don't suspect some if any TAA players to be here, lol. The game was just so poorly advertised only a small community still plays it (where I'm currently at). In fact they still have a tournament going on I'm in right now. Sadly there's only like 5 clans left just slugging it out so it'll eventually die in another year, lol. A lot of devoted people though. We occasionally get post from Jayman and Rico (though they tribute nothing >.>).

As for the book I've seemed to be able to find all the information I need thanks to Planettribes.com. I've already put together some ideas in my head for what I'm going to be having in the book. The thing is I'm not sure if I want to do a book or a short story. My feelings tell me with the amount of characters that is going to be used throughout the story it may become a book. And this will be my first attempt at writing for the sci fi genre. Good news is I'm a twilight zone/x-files junkie so I don't think I'll have a problem XD.

Thanks!

HardDrive
05-10-2007, 05:23 AM
why do you insist on an unhackable server to upgrade? If you want to stop happymod you can use lasthope. There's code out there, and there are coders out there always looking for ways to hack and prevent hacks. Both the bypass and bad mem.dll that were publicly released have been blocked from most of the lasthope servers. It was a rather simple fix in comparison to the trouble it caused. Lasthope is not unhackable, but if anyone gets the hacks that are used, like nofix or andrew, there will be a patch made. not to mention, as far as I know, daftie's config uses version 1.11 and HM, which does indeed solve the problem.

What you're saying: "I don't want people to use happymod in my server"

What you're doing: Saying "I don't want people to use happymod in my server" that's really all I can think of you doing right now.

furthermore, if you look at the Tribesonline/TROC/Tribesone website, there is no one distributing hacks that actively work on most lasthope servers? why? Because people who actually wanted to prevent people from generally happymodding in their server, suceeded. TROC distributes HappyMod, which is very perceptive of you guys considering you didnt have trouble taking help from easytarget and zed RWX who both actually run and own the servers behind TROC.

thats real pro-active of you, to do nothing but let your users blindly running around talking about the fact that a lasthope server can be compromised when in reality your server version has been compromised since probably about 2 weeks after it came out, in April 2000. We should just run 1.0 and windows XP pre-SP1 because well, computers get compromised, so why try? I mean logic may very well dictate that taking the most steps you can to prevent something in vain would be better than to do nothing and still act like youre better than everyone else.

I play on TROC, and I frequent lasthope servers, I respect server owner's wishes, but it's stupid to do nothing simply because your actions may very well not completely prevent happymodding. One of the troc gametypes, SpawnLT is totally unaffected by happymod, other gametypes surely suffer and I Think they should do as much as possible to stop the use of happymod, even if some people may at some point bypass it. The average person right now does not have a way to bypass an updated LH server. If the average person did, it would be easy to patch, because you could find it and simply find a way to block it.

I've said it once before on this forum. There's only one thing worst than cheaters, it's people who only complain about cheaters, and do absolutely nothing.

Hi Dustin, we're glad to have you around. Good luck with the application. Exadon is a pretty good guy, so I'll assume you are too.

Hi I just joined about a week ago, I live in Wyoming U.S.A. (The LEAST populated state lol.) and I am going to start college next year.
Ummn my most Favorite game of all would have to be Tribes 2 with the War 2003 mod, but I broke my CD (ARRGHH!!) and I don't really want to by a new one cause I'm stingy so I downloaded Tribes 1 and well just played for a while. Then I got bored. Then I tried to mod. I had an easy time making new armors but weapons... uh well... I've made 1 a modification of the plasma gun, other than that either my weapons make the game so it won't start or the invens dissapear O.o. So I like to learn more about modding, scripting, and 3D gfx programs (not paint which I have lol.) other than that I'm good at math, phys, and calling up random facts from time to time.

Like most people I taught myself computer skills (I'm not slamming people who learned other ways cause your skills probably pwn mine.) and I'm still fining my way around this site, where are the dev blogs at? I think this is an awesome project and I would like to get involved but I'm not "on" for a few days at a time sometimes so if I don't answer you for a week that's probably why.

Well I'm looking forward to seeing this game come out and I would like to add one suggestion here: Could you guys who are designing this game put footnotes or // (in the old tribes style) notes in that sorta tell would-be modders what different strings are for?

Hi Cyto, it's nice to have you around. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself.

I'm sorry that you missed the blogs, I link to mine in my signature; the rest can be found here (http://renwerx.com/blog.cgi). The scrolling text at the top of the screen also links to the blogs. It displays the newest blog and then continues on to the oldest posts.

Just an FYI, if you would like to download Tribes 2 for free (you'll need to remember your old login). RenWerX hosts the file here (http://renwerx.com/download.cgi?Game=Tribes%202#lk2). I would suggest trying out the Meltdown 2 MOD too. It is similar in some ways to War2k3 and was written by our lead scripter Mr. Keen.

In regards to modification of Ascension, we plan to release our internal wiki and fill it with information on modifying the game (and other topics). Keen is being careful to make the game as easily modifiable as possible. Most things (like weapons) will be modular so that you can easily add new weapons and/or edit the old ones.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me via PM, or any of the instant messenger information listed here.

Hi fragem420, nice to have you here. We have lots of t:v haters here so you'll feel right at home. That game had so much potential, but it just didn't come through.

I know Ascension will fare much better. If you have any questions about RenWerX or Ascension, don't hesitate to send me a PM or IM. If you wish to chat about the game, we are on Dyanmix IRC #renwerx on irc.dynamix.com

Hey all! I got into gaming a bit late to really play Tribes, but I tried playing Legends last year, which is another Tribes remake. Unfortunately, the community was tiny, so I put that on the backburner.

Anyways, I was looking for good teambuilding games for my gaming community, and while this game too is really in a dev stage, much like the game I'm waiting for, it seems pretty interesting.

So, hell, I'll hang around and see if when you guys launch the beta I can snag my community in with me.

Hello there. I was talking with a friend the other day and he mentioned Pocky, which, while being delicious, was the name of one of my favorite T2 teammates, and an hour later I finished telling him what a great time I had with Tribes 2 all those years ago. My concept of time has been perverted somehow, but I think I played T2 for about 2 years 2004-2005. I tried T1 after T2 but never really got into it. I started online gaming with Quakeworld but never really played anything else in terms of online multiplayer. Just that and Super Smash Bros, and all my SNES games.

I will never forget the amazing moments I've had in Tribes 2, usually on Houston Vehicles, and all the talented and genuinely nice people I've played with. That's something I think separates Tribes from Q3 and the like. For the most part, the community is made up of good people who play for the team, or observe gentleman's rules, or who will even goof off with you if you ask them to. Tribes 2 base stands out clearly as the best online gaming experience I've ever had.

I'm glad to recognize a few names here, even if no one recognizes me. (never really built up a notoriety for anything, I thought I was pretty good but never specialized at one single role) Right now I'm drawing blanks as to how I can be of help, so for now I'll just dump my brain out here from time to time and send some money when I can (can't do much I'm a student.) Here's to a bright future.

@Steel: What is that other game you are talking about?

@SleepyDog: Name names! Who are these people you recognize? I used to occasionally play on HV and I know some of my clanmates spent a lot of time on there. I mostly played on classic servers though.
Xeno Base, Ann Arbor, [Delta], Dark Tower, Treehouse and one or two others (some Euro clan I can't remember).

Well, to name a few, I see diecast5, Zaxx, Faithful, Hawkeye, LoneWolf, Lord_Neff, strider, and a few others. I reinstalled T2 (and windows :( ) today and played on the eWo server for about 5 hours. There were a few of my buddies on there and we had some good bomb runs. She's still got it :) . Unfortunately, I don't :( . For the first few hours I was getting whipped by everyone, and on top of that all my skins and voicepacks are gone. Oh well.

So, my name is Adam. I've been gaming for about 5 years. Before that I didn't really own a computer or console. Many of you will no undoubtedly laugh at me, but I'm only 15 (just turned 15 on June 6) and yeah... :p ;)

So my favorite single player game?
Bully for PS2
Sims 2 for PC
Oblivion for PC (even though I've only played it at a friends house)
Favorite multiplayer?
Tribes 1, and Vengeance (never got to try 2)
Where do I come from?
Philippines, but moved to good ol' Canada.
Favorite Drink
Well, let's just say soda/pop/sodapop whatever
Other
I like Star Wars, and other nerdy things. I'm moving onto senior high after final exams this year so that should be interesting. I like all kinds of music, as long as it's got a good sound and beat to it. I'm Spanish, French, Filipino and a little East Indian. Somehow, the combo makes me look italian, go figure :p

So that's my introduction. I look forward to becoming a part of the Ascension community. I've told my more mature ;) friends about it and hopefully they'll check it out.

Is it just me or do i overuse emoticons?

I am from London in the United Kingdom, I am to old to play games, but enjoy playing Tribes 2.

I run and administrate the ][nspired ])ead Tribes 2 U.K. Servers, with a 10 bot training server and a full multy mod all map server.

I am also a system administrator of Elite Warriors Online which anyone who plays Tribes 2 should of heard of.

I help manage the server and take a lot of the responsibility for altering and screwing up all the Evolution Admin files on the server.. lol

I help Erich, Michelle & Tim (who the Ascension Team know already) keep things going, and get a great deal of satisfaction seeing people enjoying themselves on the server.

I also get time to alter a few of the maps to our own requirements when needed and generally just enjoy playing around with them to see what I can change.

I like taking photographs, listening to good old 70's dance music and watching films on home cinema system.

Favourite music as above plus Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie (early stuff), Shakira, Christine Aguilera , Evanescence, The Corrs & Pink to name but a few.

Pet hates: People that need to cheat when playing games - especially on Tribes 2.

Lastly, can't wait for Ascencion, as I hear it is very impressive.

Keep the good work up guys n gals and it will be here in no time !!!

regards Alan

Hi there,

I'm Daniel (although i'd prefer "T7" :D ).

I've registered here because i was invited into this community by my friend, Dj Bjra. I am a electronic musician, my preffered genres are: Minimalistic DrumnBass, Drill'n'Bass, Experimental Electronica, Ambient and finally Jazz/Lounge (i know it doesn't fit the other genres, but as i'm also a somewhat classic keyboardist, so i'm really into long solo's on organ and electric pianos).

I do also play computer games though. My favorite 1st person shooter has got to be F.E.A.R. Beside that, i tend to like strategy and action games like Startopia, Worms, CivCity, Warcraft III etc.

I'm from Denmark (yeah, that small country above germany ;) ) and i'm only 16 years old, but i have approx. 8 years of music making experience, and i take the job very seriously. I am currently studying, and i am about to attend a Danish high school.

My favorite drinks are coke and anything with alcohol in it (sorry, danish kids are like that >_<)

Anyways, i look forward to getting to know you people here on the forum, and i too look forward to getting to work on the music :D

Hi folks,

My name is Taliesin (just call me Tali), I've been a hardcore Tribes player since the demo came out in CGW all those years ago. I still play, mostly on Shifter servers, but I'm decent at Renegades and learning Annihilation. It is pretty much the only game I play, as multiplayer for any game since then hasn't really thrilled me. I played T2, T:V, Legends, and a couple other Tribes clones as well, but always go back to T1. I originally went by the name of Knightmare after my Multiplayer Battletech moniker, changed to Taliesin to join the Telluric Armored Infantry {TAI} which was a clan mostly made up of Dynamix folks and their friends in Eugene.

Professionally, I work for HP in business operations, and do side work installing solar and wind energy as well as graphics and website work for the family businesses. I'm just getting into Ascension, definitely curious to see how this is going to play out. Looks like fun.

I know where Denmark is located, but I'd guess that you don't know where West Virginia is do you? It's probably similar in size to the continental part of Denmark.

Hello there.

The name's Ben. I'm from upstate new york. Favorite FPS would be Tribes 1, base, followed closely by UT2004. I like the free-form, people-flying-everywhere-and-MY-GOD-IT'S-AN-EXPLODING-FRISBEE feel to Tribes, and I enjoy the Onslaught gametype in UT2004 for its combination of run-and-gun and long-term strategy gameplay.

I don't currently have an absolute favorite single-player campaign, but I'm expecting Halo 3 to take the cake for that. We'll see in a couple months.

I enjoy ginger ale and the occasional root beer. I'm currently in high school, playing out my interests in different areas, trying to figure out what the hell I want to do with myself. I play football, swim, and do track and field for the school, and play soccer in a town league.

That just about covers it. Good to see a viable Tribes-based game coming along so nicely =)

Hello, everyone. My head was spinning with gameplay ideas when I signed up to the RenWerX forums, and I seem to have neglected to introduce myself. I'm a veteran Tribes player with some unique tastes. By that, I mean I tended to prefer unusual roles. I was the person who would set up defenses, then use stealth gear to infiltrate, or deploy the MPB, man the satchel charges, or fly anything I could get my hands on. Piloting was my favorite.

My favorite of the series was Tribes 2. I think when they made the maps larger and added more gadgets, they were going in the right direction. Conversely, I believe when Vivendi downsized the game and impeded modding, it was a mistake. I've also played some Legends and just a bit of Starsiege 2845, and I'm looking forward to Ascension and Legions: Vae Victus. It was a shame about Starsiege 2845. I think they had a great concept.

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter? Favorite mod for that (if applicable)? Any particular reason why? That would have to be Tribes 2, hands down. I've played it more than any other online game, save perhaps for Final Fantasy XI, but that's an MMORPG, so... not sure if that counts or not. I usually played base or classic, although I would occasionally play Shifter. I'm not very familiar with Renegades in Tribes 2, but I remember playing it on the original Tribes.

Favorite single player game? That's a tough one. I'm a big RPG fan. Particularly series such as Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Mana, Lufia, Neverwinter Nights, etc. My fiancee and I are huge Zelda nuts.

Favorite drink? That would be Buffalo Rock ginger ale.

Occupation? Currently looking for work, but I'm a computer technician by trade.

And so forth. I like cats. I have a bunch of 'em. Check this out.

Not to press my luck or anything, but I'm an experience beta tester with some big names under my belt. I was a tester on Warcraft 3, PlanetSide, Star Wars Galaxies, The Matrix Online, Asheron's Call 2, Auto Assault... several others I can't recall at the moment. About six months after the release of The Matrix Online, I was still getting the occasional automated e-mail from the system about a bug I reported that they had just fixed. Talk about embarrassing.

Hey, I've always been searching for games to follow in the footsteps of my favorites, and so far, Ascension appears to be the most probable successor of tribes. Luckily, Starcraft, my favorite RTS is, has SC2 coming out in a year or 2. As for my favorite mmorpg, Ultima Online, there is a game called Darkfall online. At first it was very promising, but now it has been in development for 7 years with very little communication with the community.

Long story short, I was lead to the Ascension site about a year ago (and consquently the forums), but I had neglected to any in depth reading or register on the forums, due to a gap in updates. Recently, I remembered tribes 2 and immediately revisited the ascension site to notice an update posted only last month! I knew that work was still being done, so I decided to register here.

I hope this game turns out to provide at least a small taste of the glory that was Tribes (my favorite being tribes 2, for almost exactly the same reasons as IceMaster pointed out).

At any rate, I'm glad to be here, and if there is any way I can help out with the project (with the exception of programming, lol, I'm not really capable of that) don't hesitate to ask. As for donating...we'll see with time :P hehe.

Just a small suggestion to bring this to a close - have the massive maps with dramatic terrain like in T2, that is one of the most important things to me. I loved so many of the T2 maps. Best word I can think of to describe the kind of environments Ascension should have: Epic :)

P.S. I forgot to read the original post, so I'll add info as necessary in the form of an edit.

EDIT: Thought I'd add a bit from the suggested ideas.

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter? Favorite mod for that (if applicable)? Any particular reason why?
-My favorite multiplayer fps is probably tribes 2, though I'm a big fan of counterstrike. I played tribes 2 mostly un-modded, same for CS (I played the old CS a lot, now I have source and I love it).

Favorite single player game?
-I'm going to have to go with Zelda: ocarina of time, for now. That was epic :P

Occupation?
-none, I'm quite the bum :D

Hello everyone. Most of you probably already know who I am because I've been hanging out in the IRC channel. Just making sure I introduce myself here
anyways cause it's fun!

Just realised I never introduced myself.

I am in my 40's, American from Texas, am currently living in London, UK, though we have homes in both countries and travel back and forth a bit. I am married and my wife is British.

I spent a large portion of my life in Hawaii (Waipahu, Honolulu, Waianae and Waialua) and am a USAF vet that was stationed most of the time with the US Army. I served in Central America as a military advisor attached to the CIA during the Reagan era in places like Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, etc, during the Contra/Sandinista hostilities, based out of Tegucigalpa in Honduras.

I did work for the Garriott brothers at Origin Systems in Texas and then for Electronic Arts, working on some of the Ultima series (Ultima Online, UO:T2A, UO:3D, and Ultima IX) while my brother was doing work for Blizzard (Diablo, etc, and later Throne of Darkness before forming his own comic book/video game/movie companies). I used to go by the handle 'Windspawn' (hence the monster in Diablo), was a member of Lynch Mob Justice (LMJ) in Ultima Online and am a long-time member of the Black Death Union (BDU) from Starsiege, etc. At one time I was known as [G.O.D.] Gen. Wind {GR} in Starsiege many years ago.

These days I run a large company in the UK with 10 locations across Central London, and I spend much of my day travelling back and forth on the tube system to check on the managers under me at each location.

I enjoy playing Starsiege, the Tribes series, and even Tribes Vengeance. I play WoW when I get the rare opportunity to play (pay monthly and haven't had a chance to play in over 3 months) and I like the Call of Duty series.

For computers I use a pair of laptops:

Dell Latitude C400: 1.2ghz PIII, 1gb ram, 120gb HDD, built-in Intel 830M graphics. These days mainly for carrying around at work as it is ultra-compact.

Dell Latitude C840 desktop replacement notebook converted into a Dell Precision M50: 2.2ghz P4M, 2gb ram, 120gb HDD, Nvidia Quadro4 700 GoGL video card

Dell C/Dock II docking station with a Visiontek ATI Radeon X1300 256mb PCI video card available for use by both Dell laptops.

Xerox XM7-19W widescreen black glass LCD monitor 1440x900

Attached to these are various 320-500gb external USB 2.0 drives, Microsoft and Logitech trackballs in wired and wireless, Advent brushed aluminium keyboards in wired and wireless, and other assorted devices such as folding and standard Saitek joysticks.

I do a lot of audio/video editing and conversion, and also write music via computer when I get any spare time, usually using trackers. I also enjoy flying (Quickie 2), am an avid biker (sport and touring) having made cross country runs from Chicago to Houston, and from LA to Houston across the Mojave, and I raise dogs, having 8 in Texas at the moment.

On a trivia-type note, my father was lead guitarist for Bill Haley and the Comets, of 'Rock Around the Clock', 'See Ya Later Alligator', 'Shake, Rattle, and Roll,' etc, fame.

I'm currently living in Knoxville, TN as a high school student on his way to a free ride scholarship for any college in the United States. Until recently, Tribes 1 was my favorite online FPS. I've switched to UT99, since Tribes was taking up too much of my life, and UT is hard to play for hours on end (at least for me it is). Since I quit Tribes, I've had WAY more time for my girlfriend, Brianna.

Age: 14
Height: 5 feet, 9 inches
Race: Caucasian
Sex: Male
Eyes: Blue OR Green - Depends on time/location/etc.
Favorite game: Anything involving Brianna
Favorite online game: Quake 2

First a little introduction of why I'm here before I let you know about myself. :P

Well recently I was thinking about my old Tribes and Tribes2 days and how much fun they were. I was an avid player of the Renegades mod for both of the games so I thought I'd look into if RenWerX was still "alive" or not.

To my surprise the were and to top it off they were making their own game. Needless to say I had to see what was in store. After browsing the website I fell in love or so to speak as this games resemblance to the tribes games is uncanny. So I wanted to jump right into the community for what looks to be shaping up as a great game.

Now for a little about myself.

I'm 18 and from Louisiana and I'm currently taking a semester off after High School for some rest but I'm applied at a university majoring in Computer Science for Spring semester.

My favorite multiplayer game would have to be Tribes 2 with Renegades mod bar none even after all these years and single player game is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Seemingly cliche on the SP game right; but hey it really is an amazing game.

But yeah I'm very excited about Ascension and look forward to getting more acquainted with you all. :)

Welcome to RenWerX AFK4Life, I'm glad to see you here - congratulations on quickly making it onto IRC too! We're happy to have you on #renwerx.

We've got so many new names in this last page and a half that I haven't got to talk to yet (with a few exceptions). I see some active folks like Avisan, IceMaster, Romulux, Archnemesis, and some lurkers too: Halo Of Death, Traxxas, firefila, BDUAres, Agron.

@Avisan: What do you run in track? About once a year the few runners here happen to all be online at the same time and start blabbing about our times and splits. I also have to ask, which root beer is your favorite? I think A&W is classic Americana, but I really like Barq's most of the time. During my first year of college, one of my roommates made a batch, but it sat around too long and fermented into a pretty strong drink. It wasn't bad to start though.

@Halo Of Death: If you are a friend of Dark's you must be a pretty cool guy. He's one of the best recruits we've had since I started working here. You should bug him for me updates and screenshots and such. ;)

@IceMaster: You seemed to have disappeared after all that great input when you first got here - are you just lurking now? I used to play some Shining Force1/2 on the Sega Genesis, that has been about my only RPG gaming. Some guy on TW just hooked me up with the ROM for that too. How early did you get involved with testing those games? What stage of completion were they at?

@Romulux: Come back to IRC bud, we miss you. Plus we all need to hit-up The Void again. Plus, you were active on the forums and then you fell off the face of the earth - what happened?

@Archnemesis: You've been around RWX longer than I have, and you've played Renegades for years. You say you won't play anything but Ren. So I have a question - would you play Ascension (unmodded) until we release our Renegades mod, or would you just wait.

@Traxxas: Babz tells me your internet disappeared  sorry to hear that news.

@firefila: That has to be one of the nerdiest dirty jokes ever. So...if we want Ascension to get playtime in South Korea do we need Korean translations of everything or do the gamers there speak good enough English we don't need to worry about it? I'm ignorant of such things. :o

@Angel: Rumor is you are actually a male, despite a female name - this is a most disappointing development. This will probably result in a hard-coded perma-ban from Ascension. I just missed you on IRC today, maybe we'll catch up later in the week. That beta contest is coming up soon, so keep your eyes open.

@BDUAres: It sounds like you've led an exciting life to say the least. I know most people here are interested in hearing about your time at EA. I think your work as a military advisor sounds interesting. I found myself interested in that time-period/events after reading Duane Claridge's autobiography.

@Agron: You have to explain the full-ride to us - is that for Academics, Sports, Band? You can't just say a full-ride to anywhere and not explain! :(
Oh and 14 is too young to be worrying about girls. :p

I hope you all join us on IRC irc.rizon.net #renwerx and chat for awhile. That is the best way to get to know the developers. I usually idle there throughout the day and answer questions when I'm around.

If any of you ever have any questions, feel free to PM me or hit me up on IM sometime.

During my first year of college, one of my roommates made a batch, but it sat around too long and fermented into a pretty strong drink. It wasn't bad to start though.I'm a decent sprinter, so I run the 200, but I'm a better thrower, so I do mostly shotput and discus. For a while I was doing the 4X100 relay, and I'm usually part of the 4XFat (where the throwers from both teams form a relay team) on the meets where we do one.

I usually drink A&W, but my favorite brand would have to be Vernor's. I can never find it anywhere though.

Actually I should have posted here about six months ago when I first discovered RenWerx & Ascension, I was actually looking for a free download of T2 cause my disc broke them my comp crashed and lost it >:O and when they offered it free they didnt really unless you had HaXXoR skills to get it and get a code. Anyway:

Favorite Game of all Time: Definitely T2 War 2003 Mod

Favorite Campaign: Halo 2 soon to be replaced by Halo 3. (Dangit my bro has to wait till right after I go to college to buy an XBox 360 and GoW and now he's gonna be playing H3 for two weeks by himself before I get a College break, SuXXoR. Lol.)

Favorite SPG: Freelancer. It's a spaceship fighting game that's got a way cool campaign.

I thought of making my own Tribes type game for the torque engine then I found legends which you people had a helping hand in and then I found you guys.;)

I been looking at this mod for about a year now and when I saw the contest come up I knew I had to be a pert of this so I'm finally on the forums.

I was so wanting Starsiege 2845 to take off :( Oh but there starting over from scratch so SOME DAY they will get there shit together and I do still have there ATR and I do play. I sure wish people would realize that game is a fully functional Capture the flag. There could be so much more to it and its not on the most advanced Torque engine but its still got its fun factor.

Anyway Ascension seems to be the most promising as far as getting thing to the public and fulfilling this absolute long awaited bad ass game. I put up videos of Tribes 2 and I did some on the Starsiege 2845 ATR and I'm all about promoting shit like this. I been going likr crazy to get my clan to look into this game. I most decently want to get the BETA TEST so you better beleave I will be getting my referrals. I'm excellent at being a tester of games anyway because I really do push games to there limit.

Keep up the killer work Oh and the music is Awesome. Its like tribes 2 music with a more in depth sense to it.

Hi, I'm Erathoniel from Great Games Experiment. I hope to test Ascension (though I don't have anyone to refer, unfortunately, so I may have to wait until open beta). I played Tribes and Tribes 2 (Tribes 2 offline only) a good deal, and I now eagerly await Ascension.

I will say I was referred by Badazz, my favorite shooter is Tribes Vengeance (though my cd-drive and it have a mutual hate relationship, so I can't even install it), and my favorite mod would have to be the AI mod by RenWerX.
My favorite food is whatever I'm eating if it's good, steak if it's bad. I have a hobby of Video Gaming, and Game Making (tabletop, mod, and full game amateur, only real release is Arg Domurg for Morrowind, on Filefront (in TES:III files)). I just play all the time, that's my occupation (at least, it takes up most of my time next to (very closely) sleeping.).

Hello fellow / former tribers... Im actually not as new as you think to the forums i have checked the forums often for updates and whats new too Ascension. Basically im looking for another t2 based game as i think most of the oldschool tribers are as well. I played tribes 2 for a few teams such as Aurora / nCn / Shield / OUF / Impact ... Im hopping to get into the beta if im fortunate :)

Welcome Nitrous,
Yes, many former Tribers including myself were drawn to this game looking for a fresh experience. I myself came from T1, did you ever play that?

Also, I see you have joined the beta contest, and I wish you luck. But remember, even if you are not given the chance to join the closed beta. Open beta will be right around the corner for you to play. So stick around.

Hi RenWerX

I am very interested in seeing how your project turns out and wish you the best of luck. I found out about you through a link posted in our T1 clan forums by our leader S@ND.

I guess I feel like most T1 playeres here, in that I am hoping that the once thriving community that so many players miss and that made Tribes such a dynamic and community based game will be back in some similar fashion.

I play Tribes 1, especially in the Annihilation mod.

I looked at all the screenies you have posted here and I really liked some of the terrains, hallways, the imperial armor (the white one with a lot of fine details, i think its No. 41), the water (finally!). Most of all I like that fact that so many tribers are here awaiting the release.

I connect from Spain.

Hi 2Strong, welcome to RenWerX. What is the name of your clan? We already have one Annihilation clan interested in Ascension.

Hey guys, this is WaterBottle. I've played T1 since 1998 when it first came out, but missed out on T2 and skipped to T:V.

What's your favorite multiplayer first person shooter? Favorite mod for that (if applicable)? Any particular reason why?
Probably T1 renegades because I hung out with a fun crowd.

Favorite single player game?
Tribes 1 Tutorial (That last level was hard.)

Where abouts are you from?
Seattle, WA

Favorite drink?
Water

Occupation?
Student and web developer

I do mutators for T:V (Failboat mod) but since the game averages 30 players world wide at any given time I'm hoping I can help in some way in Ascension.

Hi WaterBottle, I just heard someone talking about Failboat, but alas! I have long ago uninstalled T:V.

We have a group that gets together for Renegades games still, but that is on T2. If you can get an account, we host the download of the game here. You might still be able to find it in a bargin bin somewhere (or ebay/amazon).

If you are interested in helping us, Badazz is the person to contact. She handles all our recruiting.

Thanks for stopping by, we're glad to have you here in our community.

PS: If you ever need anything or have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me.
