Texture Clash

I won't mention any other projects, but one thing I've noticed for mods and community made games is a lack of graphical cohesion amongst game elements.

I realize that artwork and texture versions change regularly and optimization typically occers late in a project. However, after looking through a good amount of screenshots, I'm concerned that in-game art continuity is not being acheived.

Color consistency, brightness, object shapes/edges, opacity, environmental flow, etc. It's very important for an art director to pull together all of the assets from the texture artists and modelers, to ensure a unified goal. Indepent modelers and multi-independent texture artists could mean trouble without a art lead to mesh the various parts and make it look awesome.

I'm willing to bet this is a pre-mature observation and I'd love to hear from the art/texture department of Renwerx concerning this "could-be" issue.

I've been part of a couple betas and i gotta tell you that yeah, they do leave out many graphical ties to more focus on the testing. Its a more common practice that as they get into various stages of testing they add more and more so they know everything is working.

However, to add to your observation, i do have to say that the character models do not look like they belong in the environments. They're just to heavy/bold in it, but i'm sure that'll all change.

PS) they are getting fancy with the forum though...that little swirl is soemthing i wait for now :P

Art continuity is always an issue when multiple skinners are included on a project. It's why most teams request that a texture artist be able to mimic other styles.
